Launched in fall 2006 as the brainchild of Los Angeles based designers Jessica Moss and Lisa Guajardo, Leyendecker has since its inception earned a reputation for consistently clean lines and a classically current sensibility. Each Leyendecker piece is designed with quality in mind using all natural fibers such as silk, cotton, wool and rayon, employing unique trims and handmade details rarely found in other collections. Always strong, bold and a little off-kilter — the Leyendecker look is clean with just a dash of L.A. chic and ease that is sure to turn heads.
Jessica Moss attended the University of California Los Angeles, where she studied costume design. After dabbling in styling and theater Moss launched her eponymous line of one-of-a-kind pieces in 2001. Lisa Guajardo studied fashion design at the University of North Texas as well as at Central St. Martins in London. After an internship with Todd Oldham, Guajardo launched her own one-of-a-kind label Lisa Lamar in 2001.
A design partnership was forged as one time neighbors, Moss and Guajardo, learned of their shared love for long-haired chihuahuas and designer clothing. Together they have turned Leyendecker into a quirky, confident line for women who take their clothing seriously but never lose their sense of humor when it comes to fashion.
A simultaneous nod to the past and the present, with pieces that are always current but never trendy, Leyendecker's fresh take on women's contemporary fashion has earned it a loyal following. Current retailers include shopbop.com, Bergdorf Goodman, Intermix, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Barneys New York, along with specialty retailers such as Fred Segal, Planet Blue, and Ron Herman in Los Angeles, and Singer 22 and Dolce Vita in New York. The collection is also carried abroad, with loyal followings in Japan, Dubai, France, Canada, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Brazil.
